Flu clinics in 2020

We will be running clinics for patients aged 60 to 64 from December.  We await guidance for those patients aged 55-60.

The website-only booking system is necessary because of thousands of eligible patients and the need to keep our phone lines free to deal with patients who have a medical issue.

We are asking patients to wear short sleeves and be vaccinated in the standing position due to the very tight timescales on appointments.

Pharmacies are also offering vaccines under the NHS to many of the eligible groups.  Patients should contact the pharmacy of their choice for further details.

Please read the following information

  • Clinics will commence week beginning October 5th, and will be by appointment only. We anticipate making in the region of 4000 appointments available from October to December.
  • All bookings will be via practice website – patients should not telephone the surgery.
  • If you are having difficulty using the website booking system, please ask a relative or friend to help make the appointment on your behalf.
  • A mobile telephone number will be available for the small number of patients who are unable to book an appointment online.
  • Website bookings will open week beginning September 28th once we have received our initial allocation of vaccines.
  • We are asking that patients attend their appointment alone unless they need the assistance of a second person.
  • We are asking that patients attend no earlier than 5 minutes before their appointment time.  This is necessary to allow us to ensure appropriate social distancing.
  • Please do not come to the medical centre for your vaccine if you have symptoms of COVID-19. If you are able please cancel your appointment and re-book once you are feeling well again.
  • Patients will have a temperature check taken as they enter the building and anyone with a fever will be asked to go home and self isolate and book a COVID-19 test.
  • Patients arriving for flu vaccination will be required to wear a face mask.
  • We are asking that where possible, patients wear short sleeves.  Unless there are mobility issues, patients will be vaccinated in a standing position.  These measures are in place to ensure that we can maximise the number of appointments offered in a safe environment.
  • There will be a one-way system in and out of the building with the main entrance to be used for entering the flu clinic.
