East Calder Medical Practice

Welcome to East Calder Medical Practice Website

East Calder Medical Practice is based in the Health Centre at East Calder and provides a full range of medical services to the population of East Calder, Mid Calder, Wilkieston, Kirknewton, Dalmahoy, and the areas between these villages. All access to the Health Centre is by wide doors with approach ramps suitable for disabled people. There is a disabled car parking space situated in the car park at the front of the building.

Telephone: 01506 882 882 for GP services and 01506 880 582 for community services

There is now a National Covid Hub.   Any patient with cough or respiratory symptoms which you feel you cannot manage yourself should phone 111 rather than the practice.  The lines are busy but open 24 hours 7 days per week.  If it is felt that you need medical attention this will be arranged via the Hub.

WE HAVE TAKEN THE DECISION TO SUSPEND FACE TO FACE DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS.  IF YOU REQUIRE A GP CONSULTATION PLEASE CONTACT US BY TELEPHONE WHERE YOU WILL BE OFFERED AN APPROPRIATE TELEPHONE CALL BACK FROM A MEMBER OF OUR CLINICAL TEAM.  IN LIGHT OF THE EVER CHANGING SITUATION WE WILL ONLY BOOK APPOINTMENTS UP TO 2 WORKING DAYS IN ADVANCE.  WE ARE ALSO CANCELLING MOST ROUTINE NURSE APPOINTMENTS, BUT WILL STILL PROVIDE APPOINTMENTS FOR PROCEDURES WHICH ARE DEEMED CLINICALLY APPROPRIATE SUCH AS BLOOD TESTS IN RESPECT OF INR MONITORING, PRE-CHEMO OR FOR THOSE PATIENTS WHO ARE IMMUNOSUPPRESSED.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY OR PHARMACY IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF SORE THROAT, PERSISTENT COUGH, RUNNY NOSE OR FEVER OR HAVE HAD CONTACT WITH ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THESE SYMPTOMS IN THE LAST 7 DAYS.  THIS IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT OUR MOST VULNERABLE PATIENTS.

****PLEASE CONTACT US BY TELEPHONE FOR ALL ENQUIRIES IN THE FIRST INSTANCE****

PLEASE VISIT THE NHS INFORM WEBSITE FOR THE MOST UP TO DATE INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS).  DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS.

Due to the anticipated effects of Coronavirus over the coming weeks, to minimise the spread of infection we are asking that patients only attend the surgery if it is absolutely necessary.
For repeat prescription requests: - Please order these via the local pharmacy and they will collect your prescription from us.  If using the website or email please nominate a pharmacy for your prescription to go to.
For routine health advice or for minor ailments: - We will have a reduced number of book ahead appointments over the coming weeks so please only book an appointment if you feel you have no alternative, and consider using your local pharmacy or NHS Inform as your first point of contact.  If you do need an appointment please book it by telephone rather than turning up in person.
Thank you for your co-operation during these exceptional circumstances.

****To support our out of hours and secondary care colleagues, we will be open on both Good Friday & Easter Monday to deal with urgent medical problems****

PLEASE CHECK THE IMPORTANT NOTICES PAGE WHENEVER YOU VISIT OUR WEBSITE.  THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED CONTINUALLY WITH ANY IMPORTANT ISSUES AFFECTING THE HEALTH CENTRE.  THANK YOU.

In line with most other West Lothian practices, and at the request of the West Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership management team, staff will ask for additional information when booking appointments.
